With a rich tennis history dating back to the 1910s, Audubon Country Club is the site of Kentucky’s first major tennis tournament, the Bi-State Tournament, which featured players from both Kentucky and Ohio. It is also known as the first Kentucky host of the Southern Tennis Championships. Using its active tennis heritage to influence present day offerings, Audubon Country Club provides event programs for men, women and juniors of all ages and ability levels. Audubon not only competes in inter-club matches but also affords member tournaments for men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as mixed doubles. The club also has several tennis socials and parties throughout the season.

Rob Maxwell, Director of Racquet Sports
In 1919, the Courier-Journal Magazine recognized Audubon Country Club for having “the best courts in the neighborhood of Louisville.”
Building on its already sterling reputation, Audubon’s present-day tennis complex has five outdoor courts, including two clay and three hard courts. The clay courts open in late April weather permitting, and usually close at the end of October. The hard courts are open all year long.
Throughout the outdoor tennis season, Audubon hosts various tennis events, including holiday parties and monthly events on the covered patio between the clay and hard courts.
The Junior Tennis program is open for young players ages 4-17. Audubon’s Junior Tennis program provides players with a fun way to learn the game of tennis, as well as an opportunity to make friendships and develop life skills both on and off the court. Junior Tennis at Audubon can also include interclub matches on Monday mornings during June and July. This is a great way for your child to play matches in a relaxed atmosphere against other clubs in the area. Junior Interclub will rotate each week for singles and doubles, finishing the season off with a city wide tournament for different age groups near the end of summer.
Currently, Audubon has two interclub teams, a Men’s B Team and a Women’s A Team. Audubon will develop additional interclub teams based on player availability and interest.
Men’s B Team competes in interclub matches on Thursday evenings from April through August. Team play includes four or five courts of doubles with home and away matches. Practices are typically held on Tuesday evenings.
Audubon’s Women’s A Team is a partnership with Oxmoor Country Club. June through July, Women’s A Team plays interclub matches on Wednesday evenings. There are also Wednesday morning interclub matches August through September. Team play consists of four courts of doubles matches played at home and away.
